The crime statistics from the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office have been released for 2019, according to KWWL. Crime was down last year on the whole but the Sheriff’s Office did report upticks in burglaries and thefts. Drug violations came down significantly from 347 in 2018 to 213 last year. Fatal car accidents went up from two in 2018 to 4 last year. The Sheriff’s Office also noted that while the Black Hawk Coutny Jail booked fewer people in 2019 there were more forceable felons being held there. That means that they were staying for longer periods and taking up beds in jail.
