AirCare and MercyOne Parting Ways

AirCare, the medical transport service and MercyOne will be splitting apart after the two sides could not come to a mutually beneficial agreement, according to KWWL. AirCare is run by the University of Iowa Health Care and has kept a helicopter at what was formerly known as Covenant Hospital in Waterloo since 1988. UIHC says it is committed to staying in Waterloo but it is unclear how it will do so. One option is to keep the helicopter at the airport, where it is housed during inclement weather. However, some worry this could affect response times. It is also unclear what will happen with the crew that man the aircraft as they are handled by both institutions. The non agreement also affects Dubuque, who are in a similar situation. The split will take place on Saturday.
