Tuesday night in high school softball on a game heard on our sister station the Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks edged Independence 1-0. The Go-Hawks will be back in action Wednesday night at 7:15 as they host Decorah. You can hear that game on The Winner AM 1470.
In area softball Tuesday night: Waterloo Columbus beat Wapsie Valley 11-1, Denver edged Union 2-0, Dike-New Hartford got by Hudson 6-2, Mason City Newmann blanked Clarksville 7-0, South Hardin beat Aplington-Parkersburg 14-5 and Cedar Rapids Xavier swept Waterloo East 11-3 and 9-5.
Tuesday night in High School Baseball Waverly-Shell Rock allowed only 5 hits as they swept Waterloo West 8-0 and 5-1 in the nightcap. The Go-Hawks will play at Dike-New Hartford Wednesday evening at 7:30.
In other baseball Tuesday night: Central Springs beat North Butler 8-0, Nashua-Plainfield rocked Sumner-Fredericksburg 13-0 and Turkey Valley beat Sumner-Fredericksburg 19-7.
