The Iowa Capitol dome, an iconic Des Moines landmark, is crumbling and needs almost $10 million in restoration work expected to begin later this summer.
The Iowa Senate Appropriations Committee advanced an infrastructure spending bill Tuesday that includes $9.99 million for the dome repair project. The measure now goes to the Senate floor and lawmakers say there is a good chance of the funding winning final approval.
