Car Seat Safety Check

The Waverly Health Center is holding a Free Child Safety Seat Inspection at the Family Fun Fair on Saturday. The check will be held in the parking lot of the Waverly Shell Rock Middle School from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Experts will check to see if you car seat has expired, is visibly cracked, does not come with an operator’s manual, is missing parts, has been recalled, or has been in a moderate to severe crash. Iowa law says that babies under one and weighing less than 20 pounds need to be secured in a rear-facing car seat. Children under six are to be secured in an appropriate car seat or booster seat, not a seat belt alone. Children between six and 11 need to be in a booster seat or seat belt. Children under 13 need to ride in the back seat. For more information on the free child seat inspection you can contact the Waverly Health Center.
