Charles City Man Pleads Not-Guilty to 25 Charges

A Charles City man is pleading not guilty to 25 charges stemming from a crime spree in September and October, according to KIMT. 39 year old Corey Byers has been charged with 21 counts of forgery, one count of ongoing criminal conduct, and three counts of 3rd degree burglary. According to law enforcement, he forged 15 checks to Fareway for more than $1,000 and four checks to KwikStar for more than $200. He is also charged with forging checks to Pizza Hut for more than $90 and Triumphs Surplus for nearly $150. In addition to those charges, Byers is accused of burglarizing three vehicles in September. He was arrested on October 14 on 10 counts of check forgery. The other charges were added during the investigation.
