Policing is in the national news after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Waverly Police Chief Richard Pursell felt compelled to release a statement on the department’s Facebook page. Soon after that was posted the department say a video was widely shared that featured a complaint about the Waverly police.
Chief Pursell then released another statement about that video.
The video has since been removed by the man that posted it. He says he stands by what he said but felt the video was creating more division than the understanding he hoped it would contribute to.
Chief Pursell also talked about how officers should be held to a high standard.
