According to Triple-A, while drivers across the country are paying an average of $1.93 for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, Iowa drivers are shelling out more. $2.02 on the average.

AAA experts say the Midwest is seeing higher prices than the rest of the country, and it’s because of oil refineries.

Experts say refineries in the Midwest are going through seasonal routine maintenance. That means gas in our area is harder to come by and because of that, costs more.

A gallon of gas in the Cedar Valley right now is averaging around $1.99.
