Iowa Can Play Ball

The governor announced that she will allow school sponsored activities to resume on June 1st. This allowance includes baseball and softball.

Governor Kim Reynolds shared why she began sports openings with high schools.

With swiftness the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union voted unanimously to allow the 2020 baseball and softball seasons to start in June. Practices begin on June 1 with games starting on June 15th. The State Tournament dates as of today will be at their normal time and location.

The following are some restrictions for practice: no one with symptoms or who has had contact with a positive testing individual within the last 14 days can attend practice, no dugouts can be used, social distancing must be maintained during drills, players are encouraged to use their own glove, bat and helmet, players must supply their own water and water bottles, coaches must sanitize equipment, players and coaches must check their temperatures before each practice and sunflower seed spitting is banned.

When games resume dugouts can be used, fans can attend with proper social distancing and no concession stands.
