The Janesville City Council has voted unanimously to end the city’s mutual aid agreement with the City of Cedar Falls. This follows Cedar Falls’ controversial decision to replace career firefighters with police and fire cross trained Public Safety Officers. The Janesville Fire Department cited the lack of experience of the Cedar Falls PSOs and the inability to draw up a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cedar Falls Public Safety Department.
