New Hampton Student Arrest for Threat

A 15 year old student at New Hampton High School has been arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot up the school. The school district alerted the New Hampton Police Department to the threat on Wednesday. Thursday morning police took the 15 year old male into custody and charged him with Threat of Terrorism. He was taken to the North Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Waterloo. His name has not been released due to his age. No evidence of an active threat to the students or staff at the school remains, according to New Hampton Police. They do encourage parents to talk with their children about the consequences of their actions.
