Peaceful Protests in Waterloo

While protests in response to the death of George Floyd across the nation continued to become violent, including in Iowa City, the demonstration in Waterloo was peaceful, according to KWWL. Protesters in the hundreds marched through the downtown area beginning around 11:00 Wednesday night. It culminated in the city hall parking lot that double as police headquarters. There, demonstrators and law enforcement alike knelt in solidarity. Protesters were also encouraged to connect with police directly. Many thanked law enforcement for keeping them safe. Protesters also distanced themselves from arrests earlier in the week. They say those people were not part of their message.
