Monday in Class 1A State Basketball on Y99.3 the 4-seeded West Harrison Hawkeyes beat the 5-seeded Dunkerton Raiders 85-63. Dunkerton’s Casey Gardner finished with 27 points and Preston Gillespie ended with 19. Dunkerton finished the season 24-2 and champions of the Iowa Star-North Conference. The trip to the State Tournament was the school’s first since 2014.
In other Class 1A action Monday: Grand View Christian topped New London 61-51, North Linn advanced by Madrid 72-63 and Remsen St. Mary’s beat Gladbrook-Reinbeck 57-47.
In Class 2A half the quarterfinals were played as Central Lyon got by Des Moines Christian 74-41 and Pella Christian beat MFL MarMac 61-54.
