Wednesday night in college basketball the Simpson Storm shockingly swept the Wartburg Knights. In the women’s game it was Simpson upsetting 7th ranked Wartburg 66-62 despite 16 points from Amanda Brainerd and 15 points from former Go-Hawk Payton Draper. In the men’s game Simpson won 71-65.
Wednesday night in men’s basketball a slow start doomed the UNI Panthers. The Panthers dug a big first half hole against Southern Illinois and despite a huge comeback the Salukis won 68-66. In the loss former Go-Hawk Austin Phyfe recorded his 5th double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Wednesday night the 19th ranked Iowa men held off 24th ranked Rutgers 85-80 as Luka Garza sored 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to send the Hawkeyes to the winner’s circle.
