Student Accused of Using “N-word” in Video

The parent of a Denver student shared on Facebook over the weekend a video her daughter received that depicts a Wapsie Valley student using the N word. Wapsie Valley administrators became aware of the video in mid-March but have not punished the student because the video was not made on school grounds or with school equipment. Superintendent David Larson says they have been in contact with both families about the situation. Earlier this year a white Cedar Falls student was seen in a picture on Snapchat with a cookie that had the N word spelled out on top. That also did not appear to have been done on Cedar Falls school grounds or with school equipment but brought on punishment for the student. The post also spawned protests of the student and how the district handled the situation.
