Starting (Tuesday the 13th), the University of Northern Iowa will begin administering doses of COVID-19 vaccine to students, faculty and staff who registered for one of four vaccination clinics in the West Gym. This week’s clinics will continue through Friday.
The clinics, which are being held in collaboration with the Governor’s Office and the Black Hawk County Health Department, are provided at no cost. Registration emails for all three groups went out to campus last week.
“Vaccines are enhancing our community’s continued fight against COVID-19, and we are glad to play a role by offering vaccinations for our students and employees,” said President Mark A. Nook. “This is another important step as we all prepare for the safe, in-person return of activities we enjoy, and for a great year ahead at UNI.”
UNI expects to administer nearly 1,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccine this week to students, faculty and staff members.
“Vaccinating students is one of our top priorities, and we hope to vaccinate hundreds before they return home at the end of the semester,” said Shelley O’Connell, director of the Student Health Center.
