Monday night the Waverly-Shell Rock baseball team beat Decorah 9-0 to win Class 3A District 5. The Go-Hawks partnered 12 hits with great pitching from Dalton Graven to cruise to victory. With the win Waverly-Shell Rock advances to their 3rd straight Sub-State Championship berth where they’ll play Dubuque Wahlert who beat West Delaware 2-1.
The Waverly-Shell Rock vs. Dubuque Wahlert game will take place Wednesday night at 7:00 in Independence with the winner advancing to State. It’s the third boys sport this calendar year where Wahlert and Waverly-Shell Rock have met in a Sub-State Championship.
