Wrench Attack Trial

Trial has begun for a Cedar Falls man who allegedly hit another man with a wrench in dispute over parking at a trailer park, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 49 year old William McBride faces up to five years in prison after being charged with Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury. McBride allegedly approached Kyle Howard on March 20, 2020 after becoming upset with him because Howard had taken his parking spot. Both sides agree McBride had a two foot long wrench in his hands but Howard says McBride hit him with the wrench four times causing injuries to his face and a concussion, while McBride says he swung the wrench to deescalate the situation and never struck Howard with the injuries occurring on the ground during mutual combat. Testimony is expected to continue Thursday and Friday, however a key witness was unable to testify on Wednesday due to a back injury.
