Identity Theft Arrest

Two Waterloo men have been arrested on charges of identity theft after finding a wallet in a casino in Davenport, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Tyrone Thompson, Jr, allegedly found the wallet with $800 in cash and an ID card on the ground at the Rhythm City Casino. Thompson is accused of then setting up an online bank account with Bank of the West using the ID information in the wallet. The account came with a debit card and checks that were mailed to Thompson’s address in Waterloo. He then allegedly shared those checks with 42 year old Jamar Jenkins and another person. The trio spent $5,600 at Kwik Star, Hy-Vee, Scheels, Fleet Farm, Staples, and Farm and Fleet. Some of those items were later sold on Facebook Marketplace.
