Tuesday at the Boys State Basketball Tournament in the quarterfinals: In Class 4A Johnston edged Waukee Northwest 48-42 and Waukee beat Cedar Rapids Prairie 57-51; in 1A St. Edmond got by Woodbine 60-44, Notre Dame edged Bellevue 68-62, MMCRU beat Boyden-Hull 58-39 and Marquette Catholic edged Bishop Garrigan 58-55.

Boys Win Indoor Meet at Wartburg
Monday the Waverly-Shell Rock boys track and field team won the indoor meet at Wartburg with 52 points. Nolan Johnson won the 55 meter hurdles, Rylan Peters won the long jump and the 4×200 team of Bridges, Johnson, Peters and Stephens won.

Monday at Boys State Basketball: in 3A Ballard crushed Gilbert 70-40, Carroll edged Pella 50-49, ADM topped Xavier 68-59 and Storm Lake beat Solon 68-60. In Class 4A Dowling topped Dubuque Senior 63-45 and Cedar Falls beat Urbandale 73-53.

For the first time in a decade the UNI men’s basketball team is going to the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers beat UIC 84-69 Sunday to become the first team ever to win 4 games in 4 days to win the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Sunday in women’s basketball UNI beat Drake 65-58.
