Indoor Track has Great Day
Thursday at the IATC Indoor Championships the Waverly-Shell Rock boys finished in 5th place. 1st place winners for the Go-Hawks were the shuttle hurdle team of Olson, Johnson, Stephens and Christensen, the 4×400 team of Wilson, Stephens, Johnson and Foster and Peters in the long jump.
Conference Realignment Bill Passes House Easily
A bill to establish a committee to govern high school conference realignment passed the Iowa House 95-0. The bill sponsored by legislators representing the Waverly-Shell Rock and Decorah districts still needs to hit the senate floor for a vote.
UNI Women Win; Iowa & ISU Lose
Thursday night the UNI women’s basketball team beat Indiana State 87-73 to advance in the conference tournament. Thursday in the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament Iowa lost to Illinois 106-94. Thursday in the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament 17th ranked BYU beat 12th ranked Iowa State 96-92.

Four UNI women’s basketball players were named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Teams. Maya McDermott was named First Team, Kayba Laube 3rd Team, Elise Jaeger to the All-Freshman Team and Ryley Goebel to the All-Defensive Team.
Hawkeye Men Advance
Wednesday in the Big Ten Tournament the Iowa men beat Ohio State 77-70. The Hawkeyes will play 24th ranked Illinois at 5:30 Friday.
Cyclones Advance
Wednesday in the Big 12 Tournament the Iowa State men ran over Cincinnati 76-56. Iowa State will play BYU at 11:30 Thursday.

A bill that would form a committee to oversee any conference realignment for high schools is advancing in Des Moines. Waverly-Shell Rock athletic director Greg Bodensteiner discussed the timeline. The bill was sponsored by legislators representing the Waverly-Shell Rock and Decorah school districts as both districts are in a search for a new conference.
