A Floyd County man charged with multiple sexual misconduct counts has been ruled incompetent to stand trial, according to KIMT. 63 year old Charles Thompson of Floyd is facing counts of 2nd degree sexual abuse, lascivious acts with a child, two counts of indecent contact with a child, dissemination and exhibition of obscene materials to a minor, and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. Those charges stem from Thompson’s interactions with females between the ages of 8 and 15 in 2018 and 2019. After his arrest he was given a mental health evaluation that found he was not competent to stand trial. A judge ordered he be held at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center, or a similar facility, until he regains his competency.
