John Deere has announced yet more workers in Waterloo will be laid off in the new year, according to KWWL. 112 production employees were notified that they will lose their jobs on January 3rd. The company continues to cite reduced demand for equipment and a $3 billion loss in fiscal year 2024. The John Deere Waterloo location has now laid off the equivalent of the entire population of Janesville just this year. The company has received significant backlash due to their cuts as well as their decision to move some of their production to Mexico, which President-elect Donald Trump has promised to hit with heavy tariffs.
