A crash on Friday night in Buchanan County sent the two drivers to the hospital. 46 year old Miguel Hernandez Piceno of Independence was travelling southbound on Highway 150 in his Chevy Silverado when he allegedly crossed the center line and struck the rear driver side quarter panel of a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Christopher Schanbeck of Oelwein. The crash caused the Ram to roll. Schanbeck suffered two broken ribs. Hernandez Piceno also complained of chest pain and was taken to the hospital by Fairbank EMS. The Iowa State Patrol says both men’s lives were saved by their seatbelts.
