A second person has been arrested in connection with a child that was severely injured in Cedar Falls, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. A child was brought into People’s Clinic on Tuesday afternoon with breathing problems. Staff immediately suspected child abuse and alerted authorities. The child’s mother, 31 year old Dana Dial, of Texas, and a man named Deaundre Torres, of Winter Garden, Florida, attempted to leave the clinic. The child was taken to the hospital where doctors determined they had a brain bleed, spiral facture to his arm and broken ribs. Dial told authorities that Torres hurt the child’s arm by forcing it into a snowsuit and by swinging the child by the arms, throwing them into the air, and rolling them while on the bed. Torres was taken into custody on Tuesday on a charge of Child Endangerment With Serious Injury. Dial has now been taken into custody on the same charge. They are both being held on a $50,000 bond.
