2nd DUI for Cedar Falls Teacher

A Cedar Falls teacher has been arrested and charged with drunk driving for a second time, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police say that 39 year old David Grund fell asleep at the wheel around 1:20 Sunday morning. His Chevrolet Silverado then struck a Ford Mustang, which hit a Dodge Avenger, which hit a Ford Fusion. Grund’s truck then struck a tree. He was taken to the hospital with injuries to his head and a leg. He told law enforcement he had consumed 15 beers before driving. His blood alcohol level was measured at .177. Grund was also arrested for drunk driving back on March 30, 2018. In that case a Cedar Falls officer pulled him over after witnessing his truck speeding and crossing the center line. He was sentenced to 88 days in jail with all but two suspended. Grund is listed as an industrial technology teacher at Peet Junior High. It is unclear if he faces any punishment from the school.
