389 New Cases

The Iowa Department of Public Health announced 389 new positive cases of COVID-19 Sunday. That brings the total number of positive test in the state to 2,902. There was one death reported yesterday that was attributed to the virus. That was in Muscatine County and was an older adult between the ages of 61 and 80. The IDPH notes that 2/3 of the positive cases on Sunday were due to extra testing at meat processing plants for Tyson and National Beef. There were 84 positive tests of Tyson employees. National Beef had 177 positive tests.

Bremer County officially has 26 positive cases of COVID-19, however it does not appear that the Iowa Department of Public Health was updated Sunday. Of those 26 cases 21 are either residents or employees at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. Six people from the county have officially recovered from the virus. Butler, Floyd, and Chickasaw Counties continue to be lightly affected to this point. Butler has had just one case, Val Swinton, who has recovered. Floyd County has yet to see their first confirmed case. Chickasaw has had just 3 cases. Fayette County has had 6 confirmed cases while Buchanan has had 8. Black Hawk has been much harder hit with 192 confirmed cases to this point. They also have had the only death in the area due to COVID-19.
