A third child from a Waterloo family has died from injuries resulting from a car crash in Kenya. Njeri DeLeon was a junior at West High School. She had been in a medically induced coma following the crash near Nairobi on Sunday, January 4th, but died this past Friday. Her younger brothers, Emmanuel DeLeon, an eighth grader at Hoover Middle School, and Kairu Winkelpleck, a first grader at Royal Legacy Christian Academy, were both killed in the crash. The parents were not seriously injured in the crash. The family was in Kenya on a vacation at the time of the crash. A gofundme titled “Support for Leah, Christopher and DeLeon Family” was established with a goal of raising $70,000. As of this morning, it has raised more than $63,000.
