A former Waterloo man has been sentenced to federal prison time for sex trafficking, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 33 year old Darrius Redd, most recently of Manchester, forced a woman into the sex trade in 2020 and kept the profits. The judge sentenced Redd to 45 years in prison to be followed by 10 years of supervised release. She found that Redd had raped two women during the commission of his trafficking crimes and further found that he had abducted them and held them against their will. Redd trafficked his victims in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and Clive. He would advertise the women on a website called Skip the Games. Redd also plied the women with drugs. During his trial, Redd sent the court excerpts from the book “To Kill a Mockingbird”. That failed to sway the court, however.
