Crash on I-380

Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene of a two car collision on I-380 Tuesday night, according to KWWL. Authorities say a Lexus was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it struck a Nissan pick-up, nearly head on. The driver of the truck was flown to MercyOne in Waterloo with what were described as non life threatening injuries. The driver of the Lexus had to be extricated from the vehicle by rescue crews. They were taken, initially, to MercyOne as well before being flown to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. They, too, had non life threatening injuries. Due to the crash, northbound traffic on I380 was diverted to Highway 20 for about 3 hours. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing at this time.
