A Waterloo man has been sentenced to federal prison time on gun charges, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 41 year old Jamaal Baker was given six years and three months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Back in January Baker went to his ex wife’s house carrying a gun. When he arrived a heated argument took place, eventually leading to the ex wife leaving the residence with her children. As she did Baker fired at least shot. Nobody was injured but an owner of an in home daycare in the area called police. Baker was able to flee the scene before police arrived. He was later found hiding inside a walk in freezer at a nearby convenience store. Baker has an extensive record, including gang related offenses. Once his prison term is complete he will be placed on supervised release for three years.
