The name of the man saved from the Winnebago River near Mason City yesterday has been released, according to KIMT. 18 year old Gael Salcedo of Charles City was rescued from the freezing river around 7:30 yesterday morning after his SUV went into the water. According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office Salcedo hit a patch of snow just south of the bridge, lost control of the vehicle and careened into the river. First responders helped Salcedo to safety before he was taken to MercyOne North Iowa. He was alert and talking in the ambulance. Temperatures were around 0 at the time of the crash.
