The Iowa Public Universities Board of Regents has announced they are in favor of replacing the tuition freeze with a 4.4% increase, which equals a $300 increase for each student. The decision is a reaction to the State Budget signed by Governor Brandstad last week which granted the Board an increase of $6.3 Million, less than 1/3 of the $20.3 Million increase the Board requested. The increase is expected to add $19.9 Million in new funding.
