The Cedar Falls City Council has named a new Police Chief. During the meeting held on August 17th Acting Chief Craig Berte was appointed to the position. He had been in the Acting position since January. Berte received a recommendation from Cedar Falls mayor Rob Green. Berte has served the Cedar Falls Police Department since 1991 in several positions including Investigator, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief. Prior to that he served in the US Army and National Guard for 27 years. He was awarded a Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat in Afghanistan.
