The Cedar Falls Police released the following press release about a Sunday night shooting during an alleged robbery.
On November 22, 2020 at approximately 1658 hours, Cedar Falls Police were dispatched to Birdsall Memorial Park, 2700 W. 12th St. for the report of a subject who said someone had taken a cell phone from him. Officers learned the male, Santiago Perez, was attempting to sell an IPhone to a subject through Facebook Marketplace. However, when he met with the potential buyer, the phone was taken. He chased the suspect in his car, and they turned into the parking lot of the park. The subjects didn’t stop and the male fired his gun at the vehicle, which was occupied by three people. The male subject had his wife and 18-month-old son in his vehicle. No one was injured.
The following subject was charged with Intimidation With a Dangerous Weapon, Class C Felony and Child Endangerment, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
