Outbreak at Shelter

The Salvation Army’s men’s shelter in Waterloo-Cedar Falls currently has a COVID-19 outbreak, according to KWWL. The first positive test came back on December 31st. That person immediately went into isolation. Staff and residents were then all tested with one staff member and three residents testing positive. Those residents are all being quarantined away from the rest of the shelter population. Those who have tested positive are showing minor symptoms at this time. Major Martin Thies moved into the shelter on the 31st and will remain the sole staff member through the quarantine period, which will end on Tuesday, January 12th at the earliest. During this time, new intakes will not be accepted.
