UK Variant in Bremer Co

A new, more transmissible version of COVID-19 has been found in Bremer County. The B.1.1.7 variant, also known as the UK variant, was found in three Iowans. Two people from Johnson County and one in Bremer County. Bremer County Health Department says it believes vaccines will be effective against this new strain.

As of Tuesday morning, 1,476,734 Iowans have been tested for the coronavirus to this point. 320,191 have tested positive. 286,324 have now recovered while 4,906 have died. Here are the approximate active case totals for local counties: Bremer County has 193. Butler County has 184. Fayette County has 111. Chickasaw County has 62. Fayette County has 211. Buchanan County has 158. Black Hawk County has 1,128.
