A Westgate man will go to prison likely for the rest of his life after killing a 4 week old baby in 2018, according to KIMT. 24 year old Dean Hettinger was convicted of first degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death. He was caring for baby Holten Smith when Smith was hospitalized in Sumner in April of 2018. Doctors found Smith had a brain bleed. Smith would die a month later. An autopsy later showed he had 36 rib fractures. Hettinger faces a mandatory life sentence plus up to 50 years when he is sentenced at a later date.
