The Sumner Police are reporting an influx in phone scams. They posted on their Facebook page that they typically see an increase in this type of scam around this time every year due to the tax season. In a majority of the calls the caller says they are an officer with the federal government and the victim’s social security number has been compromised or suspended due to fraudulent activity and then asks for personal information. The Sumner Police Department says not to provide them with any information. They also encourage those with questions or concerns to call them or the Bremer County Dispatch.
