Charges Against Biker Gang Dropped

Charges against five alleged biker gang members, including one from Waverly, have been dropped, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Cory Woods of Waverly, Anthony Kelley of Belmond, Chad Simmons of Latimer, Justin Carlson of Sheffield, and Daniel Carolus of Belmond were charged with gang participation after an incident in Clarion. The five were thought to be members of the Sons of Silence or its support club, Sworn Silence. They allegedly followed an off duty police officer and his wife while they were riding motorcycles and forced them to pull over in April of last year. The group demanded the officer hand over his vest which displayed a logo for the Gunfighters, a law enforcement-only motorcycle club. One person in the group allegedly shoved and threatened the officer. After searches of the homes of the group, charges were brought. However, those charges have now been dropped for insufficient evidence. The Wright County Attorney’s Office did not provide and further comment on the matter. One man, Justin Carlson, is still facing gun charges after a 9mm pistol and 12 gauge shotgun were found during the search of his home, He is prohibited from owning firearms due to prior drug convictions.
