A man accused of kidnapping a babysitter and attempting to sexually abuse her in 2019 has been found guilty, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 45 year old Saul Vasquez, who waived his right to a jury trial, was found guilty by a judge of second degree kidnapping and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. The defense had argued that Vasquez was intoxicated at the time but that did not sway the judge. Prosecutors claim that Vasquez took pictures on his phone of the 16 year old babysitter and the 6 year old child she was watching, play outside. When the child went inside, Vasquez called the babysitter over. He groped her inside his rental home and led her to the bedroom before she broke away and escaped. Vasquez, who is from Equador and is in the country illegally, faces up to 27 years in prison when he is sentenced at a later date.
