New Logo Approved

The Waterloo City Council has voted to change their police logo, according to KWWL. In a 5-2 vote a new patch in a shell like shape with a yellow background shows the words “Waterloo Police Vigilance Est 1868” all in red lettering. The new patch replaces the old one which resembled a Ku Klux Klan symbol. The change is expected to cost over $150,000 however Councilwoman Sharon Juon suggested an amendment to exclude the rebranding of weapons, at least initially. That would save around $60,000. The change was controversial with many public speakers voicing their support of the old griffin patch.
