Nearly $63,000 Taken from Parked Car

An Anamosa man has been arrested for allegedly taking a large amount of cash out of a vehicle in the parking lot of the Isle Casino Hotel in Waterloo over the weekend, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 25 year old Matthew Peterson was arrested after police were called to the casino on a report of a suspicious person rummaging through a vehicle. Police found $62,900 in cash on Peterson. That money was determined to have come from a briefcase that was in the bed of a Toyota Tacoma from Minnesota. Police also found a cigarette box with meth and a meth pipe in Peterson’s pocket. He has been charged with first degree theft and possession of meth. His bond was set at $15,000.
