Body Found in Flooded Area of Park

Waterloo Police are investigating the discovery of a body in a flooded area of George Wyth State Park on Monday, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. A runner noticed the body just off a trail near Alice Wyth Lake on the park’s west side around 2:00 p.m. Monday. While the body has not been publicly identified, police say it is a Cedar Falls resident who was in their 70s. A truck belonging to the deceased was found in 300 block of Roosevelt Street. This is the third death at George Wyth State Park in recent months. A man drowned near the fishing jetty on June 6th and another man disappeared in the park on August 8th before his body was found by a kayaker the next day. Foul play is not suspected in any of the deaths.
