Woman Saved from Cedar River

Waterloo Firefighters were able to save a woman who wound up in the Cedar River Monday night, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Passersby called 911 after they heard the woman yelling near the Park Avenue Bridge. Firefighters tossed the woman a rope with a loop in it to keep her from floating over the dam which was only a few yards away. Firefighter Chris Roth then repelled down to her from the bridge in order to help her into a rescue boat which took her to a waiting ambulance. It is unclear at this time how the woman ended up in the river.
