Sex Abuse Trial Delayed Due to COVID-19

The trial for a Farley man accused of sexually abusing a UNI student has been postponed thanks to COVID-19, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. A juror tested positive for COVID-19 over the New Year holiday and while 14 jurors were originally seated two others had already been removed. One of them reported not feeling well after a family Christmas party and took an at home COVID test but the results have not yet been received. The other was excused after saying he did not feel he could be fair and impartial because he and the alleged victim are Black while the accused is White. Testimony will resume after the juror who tested positive completes a 10 day quarantine. 23 year old Zachary Lindauer is accused of having sex with UNI Freshmen who was too drunk to consent. His lawyers say the encounter was consensual.
