Local Woman OK After Tonga Disaster

The South Pacific island nation of Tonga was rocked by a volcano that could be seen from space and tsunami last week. 2012 Waverly-Shell Rock grad Carolyn Via, formally Corson, lives in Tonga.

Her mother Barb talked about her last contact with Carolyn.

Corson said she’s learned that her daughter and son-in-law Fine are OK. She expects an underwater sea cable to be repaired in the next four weeks to restore communication in the Tonga.
