Judge Keeps Bond High

A judge has refused to lower the bond for a man whose girlfriend died under mysterious circumstances, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 40 year old Kevin Halladey of Reinbeck was arrested in the early morning hours of December 16th for allegedly throwing his girlfriend’s teenage daughter against a wall during an argument. Around that same time his girlfriend was found unresponsive. The girlfriend, 41 year old Christian Jeys, died at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on December 23rd. Bond for Halladey, who is also awaiting trial for a separate domestic assault charge for allegedly assaulting Jeys in May, was set at $75,000. Halladey’s attorney argued bond for his charge is typically $1,000. The judge noted the violence in Halladey’s criminal history and the likelihood that he would flee.
