Off-Road Vehicles Legal in Waverly

The Waverly City Council has approved the use of Off-Road Vehicles within city limits. A legal ORV has been defined as a motorized vehicle with no less than four seats and no more than eight tires and is not intended to be straddled by the operator. It also has a steering wheel or control levers. Owners of ORVs must register their vehicle with the Waverly Police Department. Operators must be at least 16 years of age and must have an Iowa Driver’s License. The ORVs must have a muffler, headlight, taillight, turn signals and brakes. They must also have a fluorescent orange flag at least five feet above the street. ORVs will be allowed to operate in town from sunrise to sunset.
