Man Who Stabbed Ex Takes Plea Deal

A Waterloo man who stabbed his ex girlfriend 20-30 times has taken a plea deal, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 60 year old Daniel Smith pleaded guilty to a charge of Going Armed with Intent. He was sentenced to five years in prison to be added to 30 years he was already given for the same attack. Smith knocked his ex girlfriend to the ground in the area of West Seventh Street and Williston Avenue before straddling her chest and repeatedly stabbing her in the face, neck, and torso as she fought back. Passersby were able to interrupt Smith who got in a car and drove away. The passersby called police and followed Smith who was taken into custody a short time later. Smith also had his probation for beating the same woman in April of last year revoked.
