Waverly Man Arrested for Car Theft at UNI

A Waverly man has been arrested for stealing a vehicle from a parking lot on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 20 year old Austin Klingsmith has been charged with one count of Theft in connection with a 2019 Hyundai Elantra that was taken from the north UNI-Dome lot on September 11. The vehicle was later found engulfed in flames on Orange Road and deemed a total loss. Klingsmith was seen on surveillance video in the lot at the time of the theft. He was earlier arrested for stealing three other vehicles in November. He was connected to those thefts after leaving his phone inside a Dodge Charger that was taken from a UNI-Dome lot and later recovered.
